WHEN IDPs came; we called them Luos; and received them home,
WHEN IDPs came; we did not take them to the camp,
WHEN IDPs came; we demanded nothing from their tormentors.
Our IDPs were not camp IDPs
Our IDPs were not roadside IDPs
Our IDPs were not government IDPs
One IDP cycled on a bicycle till home
Another IDP came alone
Another said ‘hurray’ he had won.
We are poor, they say
We are rowdy, they say
We have no power, they say
But, But, But,
But, But, But,
But, But, But,
WHEN IDPs came, we showed our wealth
WHEN IDPs came, we were calm
WHEN IDPs came, we proved our might.
We buried our DEAD IDPs
We nursed our WOUNDED IDPs
We fed our hungry IDPs
They built HOUSES for their IDPs
We built HOMES for our IDPs
THEY formed an alliance to reconcile their IDPs
THEY said never shall they fight again.
Oh yes, they may fight again.
Oh yes, they may,
OH YES, OH YEs!
